Tree Pruning

Tree Pruning is the generic term for the various methods of selective removal of branches on a tree. This can be for a variety of different reasons, such as to reduce a tree’s size; to remove damaged or dead branches; or to thin out the crown and tidy up the tree’s aesthetic appearance.

Tree pruning in our experience most commonly involves turning a monster tree into something a little less oppressive that will boost the sunlight levels in your house and garden.

Our experience and extensive professional knowledge as tree surgeons working in Galway, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare, Offaly, Laois and Dublin enables us to prune and reduce your tree effectively – with a view to achieving your aims. Whether that is to increase sunlight in your garden; reduce a tree back from your property; tidy up a tree’s aesthetic appearance; or to make safe and reduce the risk of branch or whole-tree failure.

Crown Lifting, Crown Thinning and Crown Reduction.

Crown Lifting is the removal of the lowest branches, and is an effective method of increasing light levels to areas closer to the tree or to enable access under the crown.

Crown Thinning is the removal of smaller / tertiary branches, usually towards the outer portion of the crown, with the aim of allowing light and wind to pass more freely through the tree’s canopy / crown.

Crown Reduction is the reduction in height and/or spread of the crown (the foliage bearing portions) of a tree, with the aim of reducing mechanical stress on individual branches or the whole tree; making the tree more suited to its immediate environment; or reducing the effects of shading and light loss.
